The College of Teachers Education was established in January 2010. It was jointly organized by the former Teacher’s Professional skills Training and Testing Base, Central South Higher Education Teacher Training Center of MOE, Basic Education Curriculum Research Center of MOE, and Hubei Putonghua Training and Testing Center.
The College includes: Pre-service Teachers' Professional Ability Training Department, Pre-service Teachers' Professional Ability Testing Department, In-service Teacher Training Department, Central South Higher Education Teacher Training Center of MOE, Hubei Putonghua Training and Testing Center, Language Work Office of Central China Normal University (CCNU), Basic Education Curriculum Research Center of MOE, Central China Normal University Interview Examination Center for Teacher qualification in Hubei, Center for Teaching and Learning Development of CCNU, Administration Office, etc. The work involves professional develop both of pre-service teachers and in-service teachers in basic education, and higher education teachers. Researches on teacher education are also the important works. It officially enrolled master graduate students in teacher education in 2014, Ph.D. candidates in educational curriculum and pedagogy in 2015, and Ed.D. candidates in 2018.
Currently, in the college, there are 18 faculty members, including 5 members of the leadership team (3 with Ph.D., 2 with a master's degree), 1 full-time researcher (Ph.D.) and 12 staff (both masters). In addition, there are more than 40 part-time subject teachers. The college has more than 1,200 square meters of office and sites for teaching and research, and 520 square meters of venues for practical training.
The college has advanced equipment and rich resources. At present, there are several teachers' professional skills training rooms such as Putonghua training and testing room, multi-functional recording classroom, writing skill training and testing room, teaching design and teaching resource production training room, and vocational training for teachers. They provide strong support for teacher qualification, teacher career development, and high-level teacher training.
In the course of development, the college actively integrates teachers' education resources, continuously strengthens the construction of high-level teaching, research and management teams, vigorously promotes the research of teacher education theory and basic education practice, and gives play to the supporting role of talents and scientific research on the connotative development. We will focus on making the core competitiveness of the college, and build a high-level teacher education platform that combines multiple resources, research and training, pre-service and post-service develop, in order to realize goal of “building a high-level university with distinctive characteristics in teacher education” of CCNU, and strive to become a model multi-functional national base for teacher education service and research.
